AI-assisted development has shifted the bottleneck from code creation to infrastructure operations. As control planes centralize governance, their providers expand the enterprise security boundary and operational risk surface. This paper explores how declarative, API-first architectures reduce drift and enforce policy, and what it takes to run Crossplane securely at scale, including provider hardening, fleet management, and operating model trade-offs.
